About Ooh La La! Vintage
Tara Munro is a self taught fashion archeologist. The quest to unearth vintage treasures desired by another is an intoxicating addiction. The motivation to search high and low is a never-ending story and increasingly challenging in a throwaway society. Tara has studied art, history and journalism and the desire to unearth interesting things has been with her since a child. Add to the influence her fashion and communications background and a move to Paris in 2004 for the sake of love and the necessary elements and influences morphed into the company she has today. |
The history |
"At the beginning in about 2005 there were 10 of my best girlfrends, lots of wine and a big suitcase full of gorgeous things amassed from Paris and taken to my flat in Brixton. It was a kind of casual gypsy like affair pulling furs, frills and fancies quite carelessly out of the trunk to dress up and buy. I remember a white mink cape, some diamante earrings, a tropical floral silk maxi dress and a beautful leather saddle bag. This first event evolved into pop ups in art galleries, hotels and vintage shows then eventually tea parties at my home with fashion masterclasses and private boutiques. They became Paris and London events with complete vintage weekend itineraries. As the company evolved I began to see that things I am drawn were less commercial and more suited to something a designer, artist, costumier or collector will use as an influence. And so this is where I am. Amassing themes like Alice and Wonderlandesque for new collections or searching for specfics eras, textiles or colours for the mood of a film or photoshoot.
